Below are the handouts from the various Design Academy and CAD Camp sessions that Paul Oakley has delivered.
Augi Design Academy September 2008
S-1-1 AutoCAD Architecture 2009 - Making AutoCAD Architecture Work
Many companies have purchased AutoCAD® Architecture, but few have successfully implemented the
software to achieve the return on investment expected. This session will take you through what needs to be resolved and the steps necessary to make AutoCAD Architecture work. How the software should be configured, how to implement standards and how to create a methodical approach to using the software that will make AutoCAD Architecture work over future releases.
This session will give you the knowledge on how make AutoCAD Architecture work, provide the increased productivity. The return on investment that has been dreamed about until now, has alluded you.
S-3-6 AutoCAD Architecture 2009 - Grips and Tips
AutoCAD® Architecture objects have many different grips, but what do they do? Often these grips can seem intimidating and many can be manipulated via keyboard keys, but master the potential and we will show how using the grips available to you can improved your productivity. Let us lead you through a greater understanding of how to unleash their awesome power, find out what they do and even in many cases how these can be used to edit in place many objects!
As well as grip editing there will also be numerous other AutoCAD Architecture hints and tips that are bound to be of use in your every day working. Join us as we walk through the steps necessary to gain the most out of AutoCAD Architecture. You will leave this class with knowledge that quickly translates to performance increases in your daily work-by using fewer steps than you ever thought possible.
S8-3 How to ... Make A Good Impression
Autodesk Impression is “FREE” software to Autodesk Subscription customers. So come and learn how to “Make a Good impression” with your clients, by turning those CAD files into stylish presentations. In this session, we’ll explore the powerful capabilities of Autodesk Impression and how you can quickly and easily develop renderings and coloured presentation graphics from DWG and DWF files. You’ll learn how to create and apply styles, substitute AutoCAD blocks with stylized blocks, and how to apply similar styles to other CAD files.
AUGI CAD Managers Forum - March 2008
Implementing CAD Standards
This session will looks at various factors relating to implementing CAD Standards.
Design Academy 2007 - November 2007
S3-4 AutoCAD Architecture 2008 - Renovating AutoCAD Architecture
This session will examine the renovation/refurbishment of existing buildings using AutoCAD Architecture 2008. First we’ll look at traditional methodology for working on existing buildings. We’ll show you tricks for converting survey data into objects and how to create specific styles. We will also cover how classifications can be used to provide the necessary tool to filter your data using general design objects, but more specifically Scheduling and Display Themes. From wall styles to scheduling, we’ll show you how to apply these techniques to an existing building project.
S5-4 AutoCAD Architecture 2008 - Building Walls that Support
AutoCAD Architecture walls can be very frustrating for new and experienced AutoCAD Architecture users alike. It seems that we keep getting those red circles when we try to do something special with a wall. This session will help you understand why the walls work the way they do, along with helping you do more with the wall than just drawing the wall. We’ll cover wall clean-up to avoid the dreaded red circles. We’ll even cover xref clean-up, and projecting walls and wall components. Learn how to get your walls working for you instead of fighting against you.
Copenhagen CAD Camp - March 2007
S1-3 Get a Grip - Powerfull New Tools in ADT 2007
Check out the improved "heads-up" design in Autodesk Architectural Desktop and see how the new interface changes can impact your production environment. At first glance, the potential power of these new grips can seem intimidating (or so we have been told). Let us lead you through a greater understanding of how to unleash their awesome power, including the ability to directly manipulate objects! Join us as we walk through the steps necessary to gain the most of this feature. You will leave this class with knowledge that quickly translates to performance increases in your daily work-by using fewer steps than you ever thought possible.
S2-3 Markin' Time - Keep on Schedule with ADT 2007
Designed as an introduction and/or update for both new and existing ADT users, this course provides a complete introduction to 3D building design and scheduling doors and windows when working on your designs in ADT. We will guide you through developing a small building from scratch and building up the schedule tables for the combined building components. You'll leave with a better understanding of schedules, which will increase your production, assist in eliminating errors, and save you time in your projects.
S4-1 AutoCAD VBA - A Hand on Introduction to VBA Programming
If you are new to VBA, this is the class for you. 75 minutes of the essentials of VBA programming is perfect for beginning your journey into the wonderful world of VBA for AutoCAD
S5-1 Plotting and Publishing from Start to Finish with AutoCAD 2007
This course offers both longtime AutoCAD veterans and new users a chance to expand their knowledge on the plotting and publishing features of AutoCAD 2007. This course will walk you through practical examples such as: page-set concepts, creating layouts, PC3 files, color-dependent and named plot styles, and publishing sheet sets. It will also cover batch plotting drawings as well as multi-sheet DWF file plotting.
Guildford CAD Camp June 2006
S1-1 Dynamic Blocks
Discover flexibility and intelligence within the blocks you use every day, and realize an increase in efficiency and productivity. If you haven t yet learned to leverage the full power of Dynamic Blocks, this is the place you want to be. In this course, we will guide you through the full scope of mastering Dynamic Blocks, including how to manipulate the geometry in a dynamic block reference through custom grips or custom properties. The steps you learn will revolutionize your understanding and use of blocks and block libraries!
